Pancreatic injuries
Travers described the first pancreatic injury found in an intoxicated woman who was struck by a stage coach wheel in England in 1827. Although about two-thirds of pancreatic injuries are caused by penetrating trauma, recently there has been an increase in the incidence of blunt pancreatic trauma, most of these increase is caused by steering wheel injuries.
